End-to-end modeling for thin film silicon PV
| Speaker: | Michel Frei |
| Seminar Details: | Si, CdTe and CuInGaSe2 thin-film technologies are all gaining strong
acceptance in commercial products. In particular, single-junction and
tandem-junction Si is maturing as a well-understood technology. In
this talk, we compare the benefits of each technology, and discuss the
components of performance analysis from film property to module energy
generation.

| Speaker Details: | Dr. Michel Frei is an Engineering Manager at Applied Materials, Inc.
where he is responsible for device and module performance analysis for
thin-film and crystalline silicon photovoltaics. He has been a key
contributor to the development of the Applied Materials SunFab
thin-film technology, including establishing the internal programs for
device analysis, reliability, certification and process yield.
Previously, he spent 15 years in a variety of R&D engineering and
management positions at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ, in the
fields of III-V heterojunction bipolar transistor reliability,
high-performance SiGe BiCMOS, and LDMOS device modeling. Dr. Frei
holds a PhD in EE from Princeton University, and a diploma in EE from
the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
