Abstract:
One part of the work is mostly to use game theory for resource allocation problems. Game theory is an ideal tool, where multiple decision players are involved with conflicting interests. In cognitive radio networks there are unlicensed secondary users that look to utilize the under utilized radio electromagnetic spectrum of the licensed primary user(s). This leads to a possibility of interference threat to the primary which may affect its QoS beyond tolerable limit. There exists conflict of interests in such cognitive radio networks making game theory, with its well established solution concepts, a natural tool for resolving these conflicts. My work focuses more on resolving resource allocation problems using non co-operative game theory.
The second part, although not matured fully is to look in to channel state estimation problem. With incomplete observations(limited knowledge), to model this problem of estimation in the frame work of Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes(POMDP) is an exciting idea. However, the computational prohibitiveness in obtaining solutions based on dynamic programming and also of value and policy iteration methods in the cases of Infinite Horizon Problems is a big challenge. More effective techniques are required to predict the optimal solution which can be approved by MDP as to being optimal.
