Abstract:
Sensor Networks is one of the most compelling challenges of next
few decades. The requirement of current market is to get a low cost
Sensor network, which is quite possible if we consider the research
and development in the field of Wireless networks and electronics.
The application of sensor networks is very wide (e.g. Military,
Oceans, Home, Office, etc.). The flexibility, fault tolerance, high
sensing fidelity, low cost, and rapid deployment characteristics of
sensor networks create new and exciting application areas for remote
sensing.
In this report we discuss
the hardware requirements of sensor network and the different boards
we created in order to build a better sensor networking environment.
The global location of a sensor is not important in all application
of sensor network. These applications can work well with a relative
position also. But some applications require GPS, some require GSM
and most importantly sensor network require high processing power
along with low energy consumption. This report describes various
hardware boards developed during the course of project. The
hardware was designed keeping in mind the applications which require
GPS location, GSM capabilities and few ADC channels to sense data.
The project also involved developing related software.
