The old announcement text follows below.

The organizers of the Indian Control Conference (ICC) 2017 invite participation by all students studying in India (independent of whether or not the students have a paper).  The organizers are grateful to the IEEE Control Systems Society (IEEE-CSS) for providing a financial grant to facilitate this participation. The financial support covers travel/registration/accommodation of students studying in India for participation in the ICC 2017 as elaborated below.

Please read the instructions below very carefully and until the end.

We welcome applications for the student support program: students who are NOT authors are ALSO encouraged to apply and benefit out of the scheme. Details about application procedure are below. Also visit http://www.ee.iitb.ac.in/~belur/icc/ for
updates. Please circulate this information to whomever you feel might be interested
in the ICC-2017 student support scheme.

Who is eligible?

Please note that mere eligibility does not guarantee the selection for the
student support. Depending on the number of applicants, we might consider
a priority scheme in which applicants who are *NOT* from IITs/IISc (for
example) get a higher priority.

What is supported for selected students?

If selected, ICC 2017 will support train/air/bus fare up to a maximum of Rs. 9000 or actuals, whichever is less. The student support will also cover your registration and accommodation costs at the host institution.

Due to difficulty in bill-handling, taxi-fares will not be considered for reimbursement. Please maintain receipts, tickets (to-and-fro), boarding passes (one-side travel
by air), bills. Rules require incoming-flight-travel boarding passes to be
submitted for even partial air-fare reimbursement: please submit them to
the organizers on 4th January 2017. These dates are strict.

How to apply?

Please fill the google form available at: https://goo.gl/forms/2Iux8y1UqkfZfIyz1 (No need to have a gmail-id to fill the form.) Please put email address and name/phone-number of your supervisor/guide/advisor/dept-head (any one): we will contact them only for short-listed students to verify the studentship.  (Just in the rare
case that the link is not working, then please visit
http://www.ee.iitb.ac.in/~belur/icc for updates/corrections.)

Last date for filling the form: 12th September 2016 (11:45 pm).
Applications received after the last date might not be considered.

Typically, the number of candidates applying for the scheme far-outnumbers
the number of students we can support: due to this a priority scheme is
inevitable.  For selecting candidates, the following priority scheme will
be considered:

  1. first authors who are non-IIT, PhD students

  2. authors who are non-IIT students

  3. remaining student authors

  4. non-IIT PhD students, who have not submitted a paper to ICC’17
IIT PhD students, who have not submitted a paper to ICC’17

  5. Masters students (MS (by research) or or any research based masters degree), who have not submitted papers to ICC’17.

M.Tech/M.E./B.Tech/B.E. students need not apply unless they are authors.

For the above policy, IIT includes IISc too.

The form is very easy to fill and takes about 5 minutes: please let the
priority scheme not discourage anybody from applying. This priority scheme
is in line with IEEE-CSS's approval to use the fund to encourage research
in control within India.

Further, to ensure good utilization of the availed funds,
all selected
students will have to register for the ICC 2017 conference (using
student-registration)
and seek reimbursement when they *participate* in the ICC 2017. This reduces no-shows.

Selected students will be intimated by email by
30th September, 2016.
Please ensure you type your email address correctly. Announcements about
this will also be made at
http://www.ee.iitb.ac.in/~belur/icc/ Please check this website regularly.

Selected students will be paid by cheque for the travel and registration
**reimbursement**. Accommodation will be provided to the selected students
by the organizers.  Please note again: selected students **will have to
register** as student-registration, and then upon participation they get
the reimbursement (by cheque) of the registration amount. Reimbursement is
not possible without attendance and participation.  Amount paid for travel

will be the actual travel fare or Rs. 9000/-, whichever is less. The
support is an award and cannot be “transferred”. Further, in case of
cancellation of travel (due to unforeseen reasons), it is not feasible to
pay any (partially) incurred travel expenses. Participation in all days of
the conference is compulsory for actual availing of the student support.

For the purpose of the *application* of student support, a student
"author" means the student should have just *submitted* a paper to the ICC
2017: irrespective of the acceptance decisions. Please put paper-id in the
relevant box.  Before announcing the student support decisions,  we might
have to consider priority of oral-presentation papers over
poster-presentation papers, and similarly poster-presentation authors over
student-authors of rejected papers. Due to the limited fund: such a policy
is inevitable, please bear with us.
