The Center for Excellence in Nanoelectronics, at the Indian Institute of Technology,Mumbai (IITB) concentrates on the design, fabrication and characterization of nanoelectronics, applied materials based eletronic devices, Micromechanical systems,Bio-MEMS and opto-electronic devices.
The CEN is equipped with the state-of-art research facilities for fabrication and characterization of silicon, III-V compounds and polymer based devices, like photolithography, metal deposition growth and annealing, patterning structures directly on the substrate up to a few microns, preparing masks, chemical etching, characterization etc.A new building for nanofabrication is coming up in due course of time which will host facilities on a wide spectrum.
The CEN is a collabarative project between IISc (Indian Institue of Sciences) Bangalore and IIT Bombay and is funded by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), Government of India.Though both the centres will have some areas in common, by and large the team at IITB will focus more on the devices and circuits aspects of nanoelectronics and the team at IISc will focus more on the materials aspects of nanoelectronic devices.
This facility is open to all students, faculty, researchers from other universities, research labs and industries all over the country. We also offer support to perform on-site fabrication using the equipment and our well trained staff will be glad to assist you.
