M.Tech. Admissions - IIT Bombay 2026

General Information

The portal is for Institute RA / Project RA as well as candidates under IS/PS/SW/IIT B.Tech. categories.
M.Tech RA admissions is from 19th May 2026 to 20th May 2026.
Written test/skill test/Interview schedule : 19th and 20th May 2026 for Institute RA / Project RA categories.
Candidates are to be available on both the days throughout.
Interview/written test schedule : 21st May 2026 for candidates under IS/PS/SW/IIT B.Tech. categories.

Candidates who have marked the "Accept & Freeze" option on COAP to confirm admission to ANY OTHER participating Institute are NOT eligible for an RA position at IIT Bombay.

Available Positions (Lab and Projects)

There are two types of RA positions: Institute RA who are associated with some of teaching labs and project RAs who are associated with research projects. A detailed comparison is available here.

Please note that candidates can opt for Machines Lab in the preference list only if their gate discipline is EE.

Admission Process

19th & 20th May Skills/Written Test/Interview — IRA/PRA

21 May Interview/Written — IS/PS/SW/IIT BTech

A. Written Test / Skill Test (Offline)

An email has been sent to all the candidates with appropriate instructions to fill the Preference Form (see below). Login using your Applicant ID, Registration number, Email-Id and the Code (to be shared in the above-mentioned email). A detailed guide for filling the form is available here.
The form can be filled during 1st May to 8th May, 2026. Please note that you can submit the form any number of times. The last filled details in the form will be further considered.
The deadline for filling the form is 8th May, 2026. If you do not fill this form by the deadline, then you will not be considered further.
Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are the recommended browsers to fill the form.

B. Interviews (In-Person)

Based on the Written test / Skill test, a subset of the candidates will be selected for the interviews (Offline only).

C. Reporting Time

IRA/PRA Candidates: Reporting time is 8:00 AM sharp on 19th May 2026 at Lecture Hall Complex (LHC) LA-002, IIT Bombay.

IS/PS/SW/IIT B.Tech Candidates: Reporting time is 9:00 AM sharp on 21st May 2026 at Girish Gaitonde Building, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay.
