Having dealt with reading/writing of Hindi literature more, my literary collection is dominated by Hindi books. Many of them are discrete collections: like a book on selected poetry by multiple poets, compiled and edited by someone. The prominent, single-author books are as following. Thanks to IIT Bombay's wonderful library, I did not require to purchase even 10% of the literature books that I read.

  1. Jwalamukhi ke Phool. A single-act play (Ekanki) by Sushil Kumar.
  2. Karna. A novel by Kedarnath Mishr ‘Prabhat’.
  3. Isuri Prakash. An 18th century poetry collection of Poet Isuri in Bundelkhandi dialect, compiled by Gaurishankar Dwivedi ‘Shankar’.
  4. Panchtantra ki Kahaniyan. A story collection, known by word-of-mouth in India, and compiled by Venern Thomas.
  5. Apni Kahani. An autobiography by Vrindavanlal Verma.
  6. Aankh ki Kirkiri. A novel by Rabindranath Thakur.
  7. Nirmala. A novel by my idol, Premchand.
  8. Bihira Satsai. An epic by 17th century poet Bihari, edited by Satyadev Chowdhury.

The other interesting books are in English. A list of them is as follows.

  1. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. By Robert Pirsig.
  2. Siddartha. By Hermann Hesse.
  3. Illusions. By Richard Bach.
  4. The Curse of Karna. By T.P. Kailasam.
  5. Shikar. By J. Butt.
  6. Nine Man-eaters and One Rogue. By Kenneth Anderson.
