The world was promised a smart grid a few years ago, but the vision is far from delivered. A number of obstacles hinder the introduction of new technologies in the energy and utilities industry. This talk will discuss the state of the art from an industry perspective, the problems utilities face in their introduction, and provide details on some of the ways that IBM has worked with them to resolve their issues.
Zainul Charbiwala is a researcher and manager of the Smarter Energy Systems group at IBM's India Research Lab. He is interested in the integration of grid analytics and demand management. Zainul has a PhD from UCLA and an MTech from IIT Bombay.
