The presentation delivers some examples of advanced and innovative methods for high voltage insulation diagnostics. The methods and results discussed are primarily on the topic of degradation caused by partial discharges in different insulation systems such as power cables, transformers and generators. The talk ends with an overview of the work done at KTH on nanocomposite dielectric materials, more specific it deals with polyethylenbutylacrylate filled with alumina nanoparticles in the range 20 nm - 100 nm. At the end of the talk, Dr. Hans will also talk about opportunities of postgraduate studies available in KTH/Sweden.
Hans Edin leads a research group at KTH on High Voltage Engineering and Insulation Diagnostics. Presently there are 1 Researcher, 1 Post Doc and 6 PhD students in the research group. Hans is also coordinator of educational activities in a new MSc program on Smart Grids within European Institute of Innovation Technology (EIT) and the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) called InnoEnergy. The MSc program is termed SENSE - Smart Electrical Networks and Systems.
