In the talk, I will touch upon some of the key technology aspects which includes the device we've built, the server side stack which includes some Big Data tech like Apache Cassandra, KairosDB, REST APIs & Data Viz. The larger theme of the talk will be about Air Pollution/Quality Issues and the steps that can be taken by us as 'Citizen Scientists'.
Ronak Sutaria has over 16 years of technology architecture, research & solution development experience. Most recently, he successfully led a team at IndiaSpend (a journalism & policy research foundation in Mumbai) where he launched India’s first independent low-cost air quality monitoring network. The project won the mBillionth 2016 award in the environment category and an honourable mention in the Data Journalism Award 2016 in the Open data category, award being supported by Google News Labs & Knight Foundation. Prior to this project, he was the CTO at PING Digital Broadcasting Pvt. Ltd. For over four years, he was the Principal researcher & architect at Mindtree Ltd., where he was leading the Internet of Things (IoT) program, which focused on IoT standards, protocols and Middleware technologies and solutions. He has also worked for five years at Arcot Systems, Inc. in California (a Silicon Valley startup now acquired by CA, Inc.). He started his career at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore working on govt. sponsored network security projects. He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering & M.S in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Currently, he is the co-founder & Director at Respirer Living Sciences Pvt. Ltd. based in Mumbai, India.
