Academics and entrepreneurs have more in common than what sets them apart. With my own journey from academia to entrepreneurship as an example, I will share a roadmap for young faculty and students who are thinking of starting a technology company.
Sameer Patwardhan is the Cofounder and Chief-Technology-Officer at PC Technologies USA, a company that manufactures proprietary solar cell kits and other educational products. He has over 10 years of research and development experience in new materials and methods for photovoltaics and solar fuels applications. He has published over 20 articles on computational design, synthesis, characterization and application of photoactive materials, and is best known for popularizing hands-on and inquiry-based experimentation in solar energy. He is an alumnus of IIT Bombay, TU Delft and Northwestern University.
