Workshop on the use of Scilab for some topics in Communication: - Finding the noise bandwidth of an ideal low pass filter which provides the same output power as the non-ideal filter having frequency response say H(z) - Studying the above function with examples - Bit Error Rate calculation for pam, psk, 4-dpsk using examples Most of the codes Ashwathi will use tomorrow were developed within the M.Tech projects by Vinayak and Mukesh, under supervision of Prof. Saravanan Vijaykumaran. Those who want to benefit from the workshop are strongly encouraged to install Scilab on their laptops and bring the laptops with Scilab working on it. Also, please download the following codes, so that you can try these as Ashwathi explains about their use. Please download the code from http://www.ee.iitb.ac.in/~belur/scilab/comm-codes/ (Just one sci file.) Please note, we will NOT spend time on basic Scilab. Please see the various tutorials already available on the web, and in particular the ones on www.spoken-tutorial.org for learning Scilab (until learning how to define a 'function'.) In any case, those who are familiar with basic Matlab can just walk in and understand. Also, Ashwathi won't cover any *theory* related to the above communication topics. Just use of Scilab.
