This course will prepare students for the growing non-linear fiber optics based devices especially for coherent narrow and broadband light sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contents:<\/strong><br><strong>Module 1<\/strong>: Introduction to Nonlinear Fiber Optics-I Fiber Nonlinearities, Pulse Propagation in fibers, Group Velocity Dispersion, Third-Order Dispersion, Dispersion-induced pulse broadening, Self-phase Modulation, Optical Wave Breaking, Cross-phase Modulation, Modulation Instability, and Fiber Solitons (Bright solitons, high-order solitons, dark solitons).<br><strong>Module 2:<\/strong>&nbsp;Introduction to Nonlinear Fiber Optics-II Stimulated Raman Scattering (Basic Concepts, Raman Solitons, Vector Theory), Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (Physical process, Brillouin-Gain Spectrum, threshold, techniques for controlling threshold), and Four Wave Mixing (Theory, Phase-Matching techniques).<br><strong>Module 3:<\/strong>&nbsp;Nonlinear Fiber Devices-I Harmonic Generation, Parametric amplifiers (Basics, Gain spectrum, different pump configurations), Parametric Oscillators, Ultrafast Signal Processing, Quantum Noise and Correlation, and Single-Photon Sources (Basics, Design, Phase matching, and characteristics) .<br><strong>Module 4:&nbsp;<\/strong>Nonlinear Fiber Devices-II Raman Lasers and Amplifiers, Brillouin Amplifier (Gain saturation, amplifier design and applications), Supercontinuum Light Sources (different pumping schemes and wavelength regime, soliton fission, and non-solitonic radiation), and Rogue Waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul><li><strong>Text\/References<\/strong><ul><li>G P Agrawal, \u201cNonlinear Fiber Optics\u201d, Fourth Edition, Academic Press<\/li><li>B.
