The department began with fifty undergraduate students and forty postgraduate students. Currently, the department comprises sixty faculty members, five hundred undergraduate students, and five hundred fifty postgraduate students. The department began with three programs, namely, Bachelor of Technology, Master of Technology, and Doctor of Philosophy. With the developments in Electrical Engineering, by 1964, Electronics and Machines evolved into three specializations, Power Systems and Drives, Communication Engineering, and Control and Instrumentation.
