Prasanna Chaporkar received the MS degree from the Faculty of Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 2000, and the PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2006. He was a ERCIM post-doctoral fellow with ENS, Paris, France, and NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. Currently, he is a professor in the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. His research interests include resource allocation, stochastic control, queueing theory, and distributed systems and algorithms.
Sibi Raj B Pillai is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay. Before joining IITB in 2009, he obtained his Ph.D. from E.P.F.L Switzerland in Computer Science and Communication Systems in 2007. He obtained a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2000.
Kumar Appaiah received the B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in electrical engineering from IIT Madras, Chennai, India in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, TX, USA, in 2013. From 2013 to 2014, he was a Senior Engineer with Qualcomm Flarion Technologies, Bridgewater, NJ, USA. Since 2014, he has been in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay, Mumbai, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research interests include signal processing for optical communication, and multiplexing in wireless and fiber-optic communication systems.
Gaurav S. Kasbekar received B.Tech.in Electrical Engg. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay in 2004, M.Tech. in Electronics Design and Technology (EDT) from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2006 and Ph.D from University of Pennsylvania, USA in 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay. His research interests are in communication networking and network security. He received the CEDT Design Medal for being adjudged the best Masters student in EDT at IISc.
Mythili Vutukuru is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay. Before joining IITB in 2013, she obtained her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006 and 2010 respectively. After her Ph.D., she worked at Movik Networks, a startup in the telecom space, for 3 years before joining IITB. Earlier, she obtained a B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2004. She is passionate about working on real-world problems in the broad area of networked systems.
He graduated from NIT Bhopal (2004), worked as Scientist-B in Bangalore until 2007, then earned a M.Sc (Engg) from IISc Bangalore (2009) and a Ph.D. from University of Avignon, France (2013). Post-Ph.D., he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Dept of ECE, Boston University, USA for two years. His research landscape is diversified across Machine Learning, Comms. Networks, & Cybersecurity. In ML, his focus is honed on the creation & examination of online learning algorithms that optimally leverage problem structure with constrained feedback. When it comes to Comms Networks, he delves into resource allocation quandaries & scrutinizes economic facets intertwined with the ongoing net-neutrality discourse. In the realm of Cybersecurity, his endeavor is centered on bolstering threat detection & response mechanisms at endpoints.
Dr. Arzad Alam Kherani received the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. He was also with the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique, Sophia Antipolis, France. Afterwards he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India. Afterwards he has worked in Industry for around 10 years in various positions in General Motors, Broadcom Corporation, Samsung R&D and Hubble Technologies. Currently, he is currently working as Associate Professor Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai and also Adjunct Faculty with Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management, IIT Delhi.
A.K. Mittal is associated with TSDSI as Advisor with special focus on standardization in wireless and wireline systems and handles standards related activities of TSDSI in 3GPP and ITU-R. He did his graduation in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1976 from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He also holds a Diploma in Management. He has a career spanning over 47+ years in the field of Telecommunications. He began his career in the industry in R&D in digital communications. Subsequently, he joined the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Government of India where he worked in a variety of telecom domains like satellite communications, OFC, microwave, mobile networks, switching systems, network management, licensing, regulation, standards, testing and certification etc. He has been the head of Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), the technology arm of DoT dealing, inter-alia, with the development of specifications and contributions to global standards bodies, especially ITU. He has also headed the National Telecom Institute of Policy Research, Innovation and Training, DoT. He has represented the Government of India in standards bodies and various bilateral as well as multilateral international meetings.
Ashok Kumar Reddy Chavva (Senior Member, IEEE, 2014) is currently Director of Engineering at Samsung Research. He received his M.E. degree in telecommunication engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 2005. In June 2005, he joined Beceem Communications, which became part of Broadcom later. Here, he was involved in developing physical layer algorithms for the first 4G system based on WiMAX and LTE. Since November 2013, he has been with Samsung R & D Institute India Bangalore, where he currently leads an R & D team that works on 6G PHY technologies. His research interests include algorithm design for the physical layer, performance evaluation of wireless communication systems, sensing and machine learning for communications. He has published 40+ research papers in premier communication forums and has filed 50+ international patents. He received the best paper award at IEEE CCNC, Las Vegas, USA, in 2016, the best paper (third) at IEEE World 5G Forum 2020, and the winner of two challenges at ITU AI/ML 5G Challenge 2022.
Makarand leads the wireless innovation efforts at Saankhya labs with focus on improving the operational and development efficiencies of RAN solutions. He is an active member of O-RAN standardization forum where he represents Saankhya in WG6.He has extensive experience in building and deploying wireless infrastructure products and is a known SME in the field. Prior to Saankhya, Makarand has been part of several leading edge startups like UbiNetics (now Viavi), well known for the TM500 series of test platforms and then Navini networks, a pioneer in industry leading beamforming solutions. Makarand is passionate about helping indigenous startups to build wireless products to "Make telecom products in India" a reality.
Niranth Amogh is the Head - 6G Ecosystem and Standardization - Nokia Strategy and Technology - Standards Department. He is currently the Vice Chair of Study Group- Services and Solutions, TSDSI. He is a Senior Expert in the domain of telecom and information networks research and industry standards with over 20 years of experience in pre-research, standardization and product development activities. His research areas include 5G Advanced and 6G vertical industry applications and platforms for Mission Critical Communications, Edge Computing, API/Service enabler frameworks, V2X, UAV communications, Smart Factory, M2M/IoT and NGSON. He is an active contributor to global and regional standards bodies/forums (3GPP, IEEE, ITU, TSDSI, TEC, etc).
Pranav Jha works with IIT Bombay, India as a Senior Scientist. His current research interest lies in Broadcast-Broadband Convergence, Rural Broadband Communication and Network Architecture for 5G & beyond. He is an active participant in the development of telecom standards and contributes to IEEE, 3GPP, TSDSI, and ITU standardization efforts. He also chairs two IEEE working groups, IEEE P1930.1 and IEEE P2061.
Nishant Shah holds a Master of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Colorado, Boulder and is currently the co-Founder/Director of MCLabs Private Limited, a DPIIT recognized start-up that is involved in commercialization of Mission Critical Communication Systems over Broadband technologies. Prior to this, he was a Senior Project Manager at National Center of Excellence in Technology for Internal Security, NCETIS, an organization based at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and promoted by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
