TITLE: DETERMINATION OF BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE WITH AC VOLTAGE.
OBJECTIVE: To compare the breakdown voltage for different electrode configuration with a particular gap distance.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM: Click to see
EQUIPMENTS:
- HV test transformer
- Measuring capacitor
- Coupling capacitor
- DSM Peak Voltmeter
- DTM Partial discharge meter
- AKV Coupling quadripole
- PDG pulse generator
- Discharge rod
- HV flexible connector
- Series filter
- Electronic grounding switch
- Electrode
ELECTRODE CONFIGURATION
- Point-plane gap
- Sphere gap
- Rod-sphere gap
PROCEDURE:
- Connect the circuit according to the connection diagram.
- Check earthing properly before starting the experiment.
- Run 1: Determine the correction factor of the circuit as mentioned before.
- Run 2: Choose point-plane electrode conguration with 10 mm. gap distance and perform the experiment.
- Run 3: Note down all the readings (peak voltage, RMS voltage) directly from peak voltmeter.
- Run 4: Now change the electrode conguration to sphere-sphere and sphere-rod gap and repeat Run 2 and Run 3.
