Industry Session 4

Panel: Semiconductor Manufacturing India's Role
Time: 2.30 to 4.00pm
Description

India's growth has accelerated over the past couple of decades and with it the spending power of its citizens. A recent McKinsey and Company report "A Bird of Gold: The Rise of India's Consumer Market" noted that by 2025 India will become the 5th largest consumer market. Amongst the various products, electronic applications will continue to be the major consumption driver. In spite of this growing market, none of the traditional power houses have come to set up a semiconductor manufacturing plant in India. To catalyze this activity, the Government of India recently announced the Semiconductor Policy. The panelists will discuss the role of India on the semiconductor manufacturing front and what will it take to catalyze this high technology manufacturing sector in India.

The panel brings together policy advisors, entrepreneurs and leaders of international semiconductor related manufacturing companies.
