MELODY DETECTION FOR INDIAN CLASSICAL VOCAL MUSIC

This page contains sound examples related to the detection and extraction of melody from polyphonic Indian classical vocal performances. All sounds are in mp3 format.
Since, a typical vocal performance speeds up over time, excerpts from different segments of performances (slow tempo, steady singing to singing with rapid modulations) have been used.
Given alongside each original recording is an audio file created by synthesizing the automatically extracted melody, only during sung phrases (also automatically detected), using a complex tone (with 3 harmonics only).
