What is my email address?

Your email address is of the form loginname@ee.iitb.ac.in, where ‘loginname’ is to be replaced with your EE account username.

How do I check my mail?

You can check your mails in following ways.

Use any Mail Client, with following settings:

For Students:
Sandesh (Internal Networks Only)
IMAP Server: sandesh.ee.iitb.ac.in Port: 143
SMTP Server : sandesh.ee.iitb.ac.in Port: 587
Auth Method: Normal Passwd, Conn. Security: STARTTLS

For Faculty: 
Bhairav
IMAP Server: www.ee.iitb.ac.in Port: 143
SMTP Server (Use LDAP Authentication): smtp-auth.iitb.ac.in Port: 25
SMTP Server (Internal Network Only): www.ee.iitb.ac.in Port: 587
Auth Method: Normal Passwd, Conn. Security: STARTTLS

What is the size of inbox alloted to me?

The maximum size of inbox allotted to you is 200MB. If your inbox size exceeds this limit, you will not be able to get any new mail. You will be warned when your mailbox size is about to reach the maximum.

You can check the usage of your inbox in webmail too.

What if INBOX is full?

Create new folder outside INBOX folder and move all the inbox mails to that folder (All the mail clients have an option to create new folder). It is better to use mail filters to automatically move the mails to other folders so that INBOX never goes out of space.

How to forward my mails on some other mailid

Visit the site http://www.ee.iitb.ac.in/studentmailfrwd/ and enter the requisite details.

What mailing lists have been set up?

Two moderated mailing lists are available to students:

  • eestudents [at] ee [dot] iitb [dot] ac [dot] in, Click here to Subscribe for official announcements, and
  • eeseminar [at] ee [dot] iitb [dot] ac [dot] in, Click here to Subscribe for announcements relating to talks that are held in the department.

In addition, Computer centre operates seminar [at] iitb [dot] ac [dot] in to announce institute seminars.
