Tentative Technical Programme

Welcome to IST:GST

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is pleased to organize its inaugural 1st Workshop on Indigenization of Strategic Technologies: Government, Stakeholder and Think tank's perspectives (IST:GST 2017). The workshop will be held at Victor Menenzes Convention Center, IIT Bombay during the period of 25-26 November, 2017, Mumbai, India. The workshop aims to provide a platform to the scientists, academics, researchers and industry experts to present, interact and discuss the recent trends and challenges in the area of security, energy and health care, facing the cou ntry.

From technological point of view, the infrared photodetectors used in night vision cameras are very beneficial in space and defense applications. A global problem of the black market for counterfeit items (such as fashion apparel, pharmaceuticals, banknotes, electronics, legal documents) is with a quantum dot based security ink authentication system. Laser treatment has become quite popular in the medical field for eye, skin, kidney and some type of cancer treatment. Research is going on a variety of materials and processes to fabricate solar cell, which can potentially satisfy the requirements for photovoltaic energy conversion. Knowledge, expertise and skill in the above mentioned areas, comes to our rescue in our daily as well as corporate life.

A special lab visit session will be there for the participants to acquaint them with state-of-the-art facilities for growth, fabrication and characterization of nanoelectronic devices. This workshop is an opportunity for familiarization and interaction of the participants with eminent scientists, industrialists, faculty members and IITB research scholars. Participation certificates will also be issued to those attending this workshop.
