Workshop, Short Courses

UP PES IAS Congress with support from IEEE Young Professionals (YP) was organized at I.I.T. Kanpur on 21 Sep 2019. It was first of its kind initiative to connect the IEEE young professionals of Uttar Pradesh section, to provide a platform to explore the benefits of IEEE YP, PES, and IAS. The event was financially supported by IEEE YP, IEEE UP Section, Typhoon HIL Inc., and Tektronix (Convergent Technologies India). It was attended by about 69 participants from Academia and was coordinated by Mr. Ankit Yadav and Dr. Sandeep Anand (Faculty Mentor).

A short course / training module on Three Phase Propulsion System for RDSO, Lucknow was organized at RDSO Lucknow and I.I.T. Kanpur during 18 - 21 Feb 2019. It was attended by about 20 participants from RDSO and was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Anand from I.I.T. Kanpur side.

A national-level workshop on Power Engineering Research and Applications was organized at I.I.T. Kanpur during 16 - 18 March 2018. The program was sponsored by IEEE PES under Member Driven Initiatives and was co-sponsored by IEEE Industry Application Society along with industrial partners – OPAL-RT, Typhoon, and RTDS. It was attended by about 62 participants from Academia and Industry, and was coordinated by Mr. Vineeth V and Dr. Sandeep Anand (Faculty Mentor).

A workshop on Smart Grids: Renewable Integration and Microgrids was organized at V.J.T.I. Mumbai with technical support from I.I.T. Kanpur during 25 Feb - 1 March 2017. It was attended by about 25 participants from Academia and was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Anand, Dr. Saikat Chakrabarti, and Dr. S. R. Sahoo from I.I.T. Kanpur side.

A workshop on Smart Microgrids was organized at I.I.T. Kanpur during 8 - 10 April 2016. It was attended by about 58 participants from Industry and Academia, and was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Anand, Dr. Saikat Chakrabarti, and Dr. S. R. Sahoo. The event was sponsored by OPAL-RT Technologies, RTDS Technologies, and Typhoon HIL. It included discussion on various control challenges, possibility of using advanced control techniques, such as coordinated control, transient stability of the microgird, protection issues, and solutions for interconnection of microgrids. In addition, this workshop also included laboratory demonstrations.

A short course on Power Electronic Applications for Renewable Integration was organized at I.I.T. Kanpur during 30 March - 1 April 2015. The event was sponsored by Convergent Technologies (Tektronix) and Agmatel (Keysight). It was attended by about 50 participants from Industry and Academia, and was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Anand and Dr. S.P. Das. It included recent advancements in power electronic converters, various renewable technologies, control challenges, and synchronization issues.
