The Microelectronics Group at the Indian
Institute of Technology, Bombay, is a part of the Department of
Electrical Engineering, and has been in existence since 1983. The
group is also part of a 'Centre
of Excellence in Nanoelectronics',created
through a generous grant from Govt. of India. This 'Centre of
Excellence in Nanoelectronics' is one of the two centres created in
the country through an initiative from the Ministry of
Communications and Information Technology.
The Microelectronics Group has 12 faculty
members, and about 110 post-graduate students, in addition to
the research assistants. Funding for its activities comes from the
Institute, and from research projects sponsored by government
agencies and industries, both in India and abroad.
