Students and staff at WEL have developed several resources over the years. The identity of WEL has also evolved from being solely a lab for conducting curricular lab courses when it started operations in 2001, to a hub for various electronics activities, with state-of-the-art facilities for projects and product development over two decades.

Product Developer: Vivekanand Dhakane

Hardware required for laboratory courses at WEL is primarily designed and manufactured in-house. This tradition has been in place for more than 10 years, and numerous students and staff have participated in developing and benefiting from using such hardware for courses and projects. Notable examples of such developer board hardware include Krypton (Intel MAX V CPLD), Xen10 (MAX 10 CPLD), PT-51 (Microchip AT89C5131), IQ modulator board, PicoIRIS (under development all-in-one lab-on-board).

instructional laboratories

Product Developer: Ruchira Nandeshwar

WEL has more than 5,000 sq. ft. of space dedicated to laboratory courses that form part of the curriculum for Electrical Engineering students at IIT Bombay. These sections of the lab are equipped with approximately 100 identical setups consisting of arbitrary function generators (AFGs), digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs), power supplies, multimeters, and desktop computers. The labs also have soldering stations, components, and accessories for assembling circuit boards.

EXPERIENTIAL Learning Laboratory

The experiential learning laboratory (ELL) was inaugurated on Feb 14, 2022, by Dr. Hemant Kanakia, a Distinguished Alumnus of IIT Bombay. The lab has a variety of rapid prototyping equipment to facilitate hands-on learning and inculcate a spirit of making among students.

Advanced measurements lab

Product Developer: Vivekanand Dhakane

The advanced measurements wing of WEL was setup in September 2022, and houses state-of-the-art facilities such as thermal chamber and environmental chamber, EMI/EMC pre-compliance test setups, facilities for biosensing and synthetic biology etc.
