WEL caters to more than 10 lab courses serving more than 1,700 students per year. Most of the hardware required for conducting these courses has been designed and manufactured at WEL. Tutorials, resources and user manuals made by WEL staff and RAs are used to offer students an engaging learning experience.

The WEL brand has reached more than 400 colleges across India, thanks to workshops conducted over the years, with more than 2,000 teachers and students have undergone training on hardware and lab content developed in WEL. WEL has continued this tradition and offers workshops in partnership with NPTEL, which offers certification to students upon successful completion of summer workshops. Workshops offered through other entities (QIP, TiH-IOT) at IIT Bombay also utilize WEL premises. Recently, WEL has also been part of alumni outreach activities through the EE Alumni and Corporate engagement (ACE) cell.

WEL has hosted several students for internships and project positions over the years. Our interns have made numerous contributions to WEL, by participating in hardware development, research assistantship, developing software modules and resources and helping in day-to-day lab activities. WEL has helped serve as a launchpad for young graduates who have worked with us and leveraged their training to obtain prestigious fellowships for higher studies and rewarding industry positions.

Massive open online courses (MOOCs) help students access repositories of knowledge not constrained by location, at their own pace (on-demand learning). MOOC-style courses are typically catered towards learning theoretical concepts, while no significant efforts have been made for practicum courses. WEL has developed expertise in conducting online lab courses and offering MOOCs on a variety of lab courses.
