EE618 – CMOS Analog IC Design
The course deals with design of CMOS analog integrated circuits with focus on circuit design in modern CMOS technologies where functionality limitations arises due to short-channel effects. In this course, the fundamental analog circuit building blocks for advanced analog designs in RF and Mixed signal designs are analyzed thoroughly. The homeworks and course-projects in the course are designed to help students to acquire a hands-on design and layout experience on some of the key fundamental blocks of the analog design like current mirrors, differential amplifiers and Op-amp etc.
Course contents:
CMOS Device Fundamentals, CMOS small signal models, Basic CMOS Amplifiers, Current Mirrors, Differential Amplifiers, Frequency response of Amplifiers, Operational Amplifiers, Feedback, Stability and compensation techniques in op-amps, Common-mode feedback in op-amps, Noise analysis in circuits, Voltage reference design, Switched-Capacitor Circuits, Continuous Time Filters and Analog Layout Techniques.

CMOS Analog IC Design Competition
This competition is an initiative to get students ready for Professional Career in Analog IC Design.
During the competition, students present their course project designs from specs – schematics – layout – extracted results. This event provides an opportunity to the enrolled students and others to learn about various topologies/designs of key analog building blocks. Experts in analog circuit design from industry and academia interact with students and review the designs.
