  1. VMCC is located along YP Road in the academic zone of the campus. It is next to the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE) and the IDC School of Design, and opposite to the Rahul Bajaj Technology Innovation Centre.
  2. It is about 5 minutes drive from the Main Gate. The venue can also be reached through the covered corridor, known as Infinite Corridor, starting near the Department of Physics and the Department of Chemistry.
December mornings at IIT Bombay are pleasantly cool. If you arrive early, we recommed strolling through the green, shaded campus and enjoy the morning before the sessions begin.

  1. GUEST HOUSES
    Participants assigned to guest-house accommodation should proceed to the guest house specified in their accommodation information.

  2. HOSTELS
    Student participants and postdocs will be accommodated in their assigned IIT Bombay hostel. The specific hostel and room details will be provided as part of the accommodation allocation.
  3. CAMPUS ENTRY & NAVIGATION
    Participants arriving by road should use the IIT Bombay Main Gate on JVLR. After entering the campus, follow campus signage and workshop instructions to reach the assigned accommodation.
Participants should carry the identification or entry pass specified in the workshop registration and accommodation instructions.

  1. FROM THE AIRPORTS
    Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA, IATA: BOM): Terminal 2 is about 7–8 km from campus. Terminal 1 is about 10–12 km away.
    Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA, IATA: NMI): The new airport is about 30–35 km from campus. It is accessible by road via the Atal Setu sea bridge.
    Cabs: Prepaid taxis and app-based cabs such as Uber and Ola are available at the arrival areas of both airports.
    Metro: From CSMIA, take Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) to Aarey JVLR. From there, continue to campus by auto-rickshaw or bus.
  2. SUBURBAN RAILWAY
    Central Line: Kanjurmarg and Vikhroli are the closest suburban railway stations. Kanjurmarg is served by Slow local trains. From the station, take an auto-rickshaw, taxi, or bus to campus.
    Western Line: Andheri is the most convenient station for reaching IIT Bombay. From the eastern side of the station, take an auto-rickshaw, taxi, or bus via the Jogeshwari–Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR).
    Transfer at Dadar: Passengers arriving on the Western Line can change to the Central Line at Dadar. Take a northbound Slow local towards Kanjurmarg.
  3. METRO NETWORKS
    Line 3 (Aqua Line): Connects South Mumbai and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with Aarey JVLR. From Aarey JVLR, continue to campus by auto-rickshaw or bus.
    Line 1 (Blue Line): Connects the western suburbs with Ghatkopar. Saki Naka is a convenient point for the onward journey to IIT Bombay. Take an auto-rickshaw or feeder bus from Saki Naka.
  4. BUS NETWORKS & ROAD
    Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses: BEST buses connect IIT Bombay with nearby railway stations and other parts of Mumbai. Campus stops include IIT Main Gate, IIT Market Gate, and Hiranandani Gardens.
    Road: The main road approaches are the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) and the Jogeshwari–Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR).
When taking an auto-rickshaw or taxi, specify “IIT Bombay, Powai” to avoid confusion with other institutes.
Mumbai traffic is often heavier during peak hours. Plan your journey with sufficient extra time.

  1. AIRPORT - CSMIA (BOM)
    Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA, IATA: BOM) is Mumbai’s primary international airport. Terminal 2 (T2) handles all international flights alongside select domestic operations, while Terminal 1 (T1) is dedicated to domestic flights. IIT Bombay is approximately 10 km away by road.
  2. AIRPORT - NMIA (NMI)
    Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA, IATA: NMI) is located at Ulwe in Navi Mumbai. IIT Bombay is approximately 30–35 km from NMIA by road, depending on the route.
  3. RAILWAY
    Major long-distance railway stations include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai Central (MMCT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), and Bandra Terminus (BDTS). Other important railway stations include Dadar, Thane, and Kalyan Junction, which also provide connections to Mumbai’s suburban local train network.
  4. ROAD
    Major regional approaches include NH 48, the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, NH 66, and the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) provides a major road connection between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

If you are attending ALD-M2M 2026 from outside India, please note the following:

  • Indian passport holders and OCI cardholders do not require a visa to attend the workshop.
  • International participants requiring a visa must submit their details and a scanned copy of their passport bio page through the form below to request an official invitation letter. In case you do not receive your invitation letter within 7 days of submitting the form, please write to us at aldm2m2026@ee.iitb.ac.in
  • For invited and plenary speakers, the invitation letter is already being preprocessed.
  • Please ensure that your passport meets the required validity requirements.

WEATHER

Weather in December

December falls within the dry season in Mumbai. Expect warm days (30 to 33 °C) and comfortable evenings (18 to 20 °C) with low humidity.

CURRENCY

Currency & payments

The currency is the Indian Rupee (₹/INR). Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is widely used for digital transactions and cards are common too. You may carry some cash for autorickshaws and small vendors.

POWER

Power & plugs

Standard voltage is 230V at 50Hz. Type D plugs are commonly used. Universal adapters are recommended for people travelling from abroad.

LANGUAGE

Language

English and Hindi are widely understood. Marathi is the local language.

GETTING AROUND

Getting around Powai

  • 1. Auto-rickshaws and taxis are metered and ideal for short local trips.
  • 2. Uber, Rapido and Ola are reliable for airport transfers and city travel.
  • 3. The Mumbai Metro and suburban railway connect you to the broader metropolitan area.
  • 4. Track suburban rail and bus transit via the mIndicator and Chalo apps respectively.
