Victor Menezes Convention Centre
The Victor Menezes Convention Centre (VMCC) is the primary convention facility at IIT Bombay. It hosts conferences, technical symposia, workshops, exhibitions, and other academic events. The centre was established through a philanthropic contribution from Victor J. Menezes, an IIT Bombay alumnus from the 1970 electrical engineering batch and former Senior Vice Chairman of Citigroup Inc. The building was inaugurated on 8 January 2011.
Designed by architect Hafeez Contractor, the VMCC is a five-storey building with approximately 115,000 square feet of built-up area. It was designed to accommodate multiple sessions and activities simultaneously, with an auditorium, lecture halls, conference rooms, and spaces for exhibitions and poster sessions. The centre includes the Prof. B. Nag Auditorium, lecture halls and seminar rooms of different capacities, as well as a board room, VIP and business lounges, a cafeteria, pantry, and spacious foyers.
IIT Bombay, Powai
Established in 1958, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay or IITB) was the first IIT established with international assistance, with foundational support from UNESCO and the government of the USSR. Its motto, “ज्ञानं परमं ध्येयम्” (Jñānam paramam dhyeyam) — “Knowledge is the Supreme Goal”, reflects the Institute’s longstanding emphasis on education and research. In 1961, an Act of Parliament declared IIT Bombay an Institute of National Importance, and in 2018 it was granted Institution of Eminence status.
The campus covers approximately 545 acres (220 hectares) and is located in Powai, Mumbai, between Powai Lake and Vihar Lake and adjacent to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The campus has extensive vegetation and natural areas. It supports a diverse range of plant and animal life, along with its academic and research facilities, hostels, residences, sports and cultural facilities, and other amenities.

The Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Marine Drive and Elephanta Caves are among its well-known attractions. October to February is the recommended period for sightseeing and exploring the city.

UNESCO rock-cut caves and hill destinations in Maharashtra.
Ancient rock-cut cave temples dedicated mainly to Lord Shiva, dating from around the 5th–6th centuries. Famous for the monumental Trimurti Sadashiva sculpture. Reachable by a one-hour ferry from the Gateway of India. Open 9 AM to 5 PM (Closed Mondays).
A complex of 109 Buddhist rock-cut caves dating from the 1st century BCE to the 10th century CE, located inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
A popular hill station in the Sahyadris that is known for its scenic valleys and nearby Buddhist rock-cut caves including the Karla Chaitya Griha and Bhaja Caves.
Vehicle-free eco-sensitive hill station, with forested paths, scenic viewpoints and old-world charm, situated on a mountain plateau in the Sahyadri range.

By Vehicle: Enter via Gate No. 2 (Main Gate) on JVLR. VMCC is a straight 5-minute drive down YP Road.
On Foot: You can reach the venue via the covered walkway (named as Infinite Corridor). The walkway begins near the Physics and Chemistry departments.
