The Electrical Machines Laboratory is an important part of the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay. The lab hosts 400+ students annually for four courses. Experiments conducted in the lab are designed to concretize the theoretical understanding of concepts related to Electrical machines, Electrical drives, and power electronics. The lab strives to update its undergraduate and postgraduate experiments as per current and future trends in the field of Electrical machines, power electronics, and electrical drives. The lab is equipped with DC machines, induction machines, a BLDC, and a PMSM machine along with a grid-connected synchronous alternator. The lab also hosts a course in which students are given tasks to design and test a power electronics converter. For testing purposes, the lab is equipped with precision digital oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters, tachometer, differential probes etc. Lab Research assistants, staff, and associated faculties are constantly involved in the design and development of new experiments.
