The Communication Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay is led by Prof. Girish P Saraph.

The research activity focuses on:

Development based on the IXA technology of Intel using the IXP network processor forms a core part of the ongoing research in the lab. Traffic engineering analysis of a novel VS routing algorithm and MPLS-TE is in process over test-bed.

Current research is mainly focused on building a 2.4GHz wireless link setup. The upcoming RFID technology is also being explored and readers for RFID tags are being developed.
Research in this area focuses on computational and experimental work on klystron and other high power microwave sources useful in RADARs and other defense applications.
Computational research is being carried out on Generalized Scattering Matrix (GSM) treatment of optical structures. Research is also being pursued on emerging technologies in ATM over SONET.
