High Power Converters

The high voltage transmission systems are one of the most crucial technologies to achieve a green energy sector. The proficient high power converters are the milestones on the path of sustainable future. We, the researchers at PEARL lab are continuously questing to enhance the structure and performance of high power converters by providing highly competent and state of the art multilevel high power conversion alternatives.

The high voltage power carriers are preferred for bulk power transfer owing to their high efficiency and excellent voltage regulation. However, the existing converter solutions incur high cost, inefficient operation and large footprint, adversely impacting both the techno-economic and environmental aspects. The continuous efforts of pearl group have resulted into highly power dense, low cost and efficient power converters. We are working on the diverse range of applications such as MV and HV ac/dc and dc/dc converters, future dc grids, FACTS, hybrid multilevel converters, and utilization of wideband gap devices in multilevel converters.
