Associated Research Labs
PC Lab
PC Lab provides general computing facilities to students of Electrical Engineering and Reliability Engineering. Features Windows and Linux machines, a load-balanced server (Rudra) with MATLAB, Scilab, Spice, Ansys, and standard packages, plus email service with 500MB storage.
Medical Deep Learning and AI Lab (MeDAL)
Research focuses on artificial intelligence, deep learning, medical image analysis, and chemical reaction networks with GPU-based computers.
Advanced Integrated Circuits and Systems Lab (aiCAS Lab)
aiCAS lab was established in 2018. Research at the aiCAS lab focuses on high-performance Analog, RF, Digital, Mixed-signal ICs, and Embedded Systems design. State-of-the-art hardware and software tools are available to develop integrated circuits using RF-Analog and Digital design flow. The lab has high-end measurement instruments required for the post-silicon validation of ICs.
Stochastic Systems Laboratory
The research carried out in the Stochastic Systems Laboratory focuses on modelling, algorithm design, and performance evaluation issues in networks, online learning systems, and smart power grids. Research uses tools from applied probability, data science, optimization, control theory and game theory.
Microwave and Antenna Lab
Researches RF systems, electromagnetic waves, and antenna design including microstrip antennas, microwave integrated circuits, and broadband antennas.
Networking Lab
Addresses theoretical aspects of queuing theory, sensor networks, applications of stochastic approximation, and software routing.
Tata Teleservices-IIT Bombay Center of Excellence in Telecommunication (TICET)
Tata Teleservices IITB Center of Excellence in Telecommunications (TICET) came into existence on 12th December 2007 with the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Telecommunication (Government of India), IIT Bombay, and Tata Teleservices Ltd., during the inauguration of India Telecom 2007. TICET is one of several Telecom Centers of Excellence (TCOEs) created to build capacity, support growth of the telecom industry including manufacturing through application research, and to serve as a think tank for government and industry decision makers. Tata Teleservices Ltd. — the principal sponsor — was the first to launch CDMA mobile services in India.
Signal Processing and Instrumentation Lab
Focuses on speech and signal processing, biomedical signal processing and instrumentation, electronic instrumentation, and embedded system design.
Communication Laboratory
The Communication Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay is led by Prof. Girish P. Saraph. Research activity focuses on communication networks, RF electronics and wireless communication, high power microwave sources and radar, and fiber optics and optical communication. The Communication Engineering (CE) Lab for course EE-455 is conducted here.
Digital Audio Processing Lab
A signal processing research facility dedicated to speech and audio applications including music content analysis and retrieval, speech prosody for language learning, and multi-channel speech enhancement.
Fiber Optics Communication Laboratory
The Fiber Optics Laboratory is involved in research on optical communication, networking and sensor applications. Capabilities include testbeds for optical fiber links and high-speed optical communication systems.
Bharti Centre for Communication
Centre to generate fundamental knowledge in telecommunication and allied systems. Vision is to be an internationally recognised contributor in moving the frontiers of knowledge through research and education in communication and networking.
Vision and Image Processing Lab
Vision and Image Processing Lab is a research facility in the Electrical Engineering Department dedicated to haptics, computer vision and image processing applications.
Texas Instruments Digital Signal Processing Lab (TI-DSP)
Established June 1996 to support DSP hands-on projects and conduct DSP labs for undergraduate students, and to support DSP research at postgraduate level.
Information Networks Laboratory (InfoNet Lab)
The Information Networks Lab is a part of the Communications and Signal Processing group in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay. The lab has undergraduate students, postgraduate students and project staff pursuing research in wireless and wired networking areas.
Wadhwani Electronics Lab
Provides TA duty for Analog and Digital Labs and maintains lab equipment for the department.
Signal Processing and Artificial Neural Networks (SPANN)
SPANN Laboratory is a research environment for Wireless Communications, Sensor Networks, Image Processing and Signal Processing domains. A team of around 40 people comprising doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students from Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and the School of Biosciences and Bioengineering pursue a wide spectrum of research and development activities — from developing robust algorithms to software solutions and hardware realizations.
