Microcontrollers play an important role in a wide range of applications such as cameras, automobiles, printers, video games, toys, phones, etc. As a result, a course on microcontrollers is included in most of the engineering colleges as a core course or an interdisciplinary course and generally involves architecture, interfacing, and embedded software.

As a part of e-Prayog, two development platforms have been designed for this purpose:

• "Aurum" (based on PIC 18F4550)
• "Pt-51" (based on 89C5132)
