Thesis:
Students are encouraged to approach faculty members in their specialization for discussing potential thesis research topics. One year of thesis work is required for a successful completion of the Master’s degree. The thesis must lead to work of reputably publishable, patentable, or deployable technology. Some guidelines about the thesis are given here.
Guidance and support:
Students in their first year are advised by a faculty advisor for their specialization and year of admission (FacAd). During the thesis research, the thesis advisor (supervisor) is the main counsel for the student. Additionally, students can approach DPGC and other bodies for special cases of support needed, such as those depicted here.
Internships and placements:
MTech students are generally not allowed to go for summer internships due to the short duration of the programme. Students usually sit for job placements towards the end of their second-last semester. For more information about job opportunities through IITB’s placement programme, please visit this page.
Fees, expenses, and financial support
Fees and other expenses for pursuing an MTech degree from Electrical Engineering are based on those set centrally by IIT Bombay, for which more information can be found here. Limited scholarships for meritorious students from humble backgrounds may be available, for which more information can be found here.
Additional financial support:
In addition to the TA and RA stipends, students can pursue various scholarships and fellowships offered by various companies or research funding agencies based on the topic and quality of their research proposals.
